Elena B. Zuares

Elena Zuares concentrates her practice on complex insurance coverage issues and the defense of clients in third-party claims involving specialty and significant exposure liability matters.  Ms. Zuares also advises and represents insurers and insureds throughout the U.S. and London in complex litigation matters.

Ms. Zuares has significant experience in representing clients in complex litigation issues related to insurance coverage, environmental matters and professional liability matters. During her career, Ms. Zuares has presented oral arguments before trial and appellate courts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Prior to entering into private practice, Ms. Zuares served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. John B. Mariano, Superior Court of New Jersey, Civil Division.

Representative Experience

• Represented a commercial liability insurer in a coverage action involving significant claims of faulty construction and negligent management of a condominium complex.
• Represented a major insurer in coverage litigation involving claims of environmental contamination from leaking underground storage tanks.
• Conducted analyses of coverage issues and allocation of insurance premiums under long-term, commercial leases for a major department store chain. 
• Defended municipality against serious liability claims under state dam safety statute and regulations.
