INSURANCE FRAUD CONSULTING and LITIGATION

It is estimated that insurance fraud is costing policyholders and the insurance industry $50 billion every year. Our attorneys have experience in matters involving underwriting/premium fraud, broker and managing general agent fraud, arson for profit, stolen art/collectibles, commercial stock, life/health/disability and organized fraud rings involving runners/cappers, repair shops and medical/legal professionals. We are proud that NLdH has been in the forefront in fighting insurance fraud.

NLdH attorneys have litigated cases in state and federal courts throughout the United States. And on staff, at NLdH, are attorneys who have served the insurance industry in a variety of capacities where the fight against insurance fraud has mattered most. We have worked with federal and state prosecutors, representatives of The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), and the FBI, as well as state and local fire marshals, when fraudulent insurance claims have been made against our clients. Our attorneys have also served on the board of the International Association of Special Investigation Units ("IASIU") and worked closely with Pennsylvania's Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority (IFPA) and the Pennsylvania Auto Crime Investigators Association (PACIA).

NLdH attorneys think outside the box when working on insurance fraud matters.

  • We're among the first lawyers in Pennsylvania to litigate "reverse bad faith" cases against policyholders who attempted to commit a large scale fraudulent claim against an insurer. NLdH has conducted examinations under oath at the scene of a loss, thus contemporaneously preserving evidence that may later be useful in the handling of the claim. We have taken testimony of the insured's public adjusters/accountants.NLdH has arranged for forensic experts to actually participate in the questioning of insureds or the insureds' experts on technical issues in order to form the basis of expert opinion.

We understand the unique issues of insurance fraud and the necessity to properly document an insurance fraud case to maximize the potential to secure a positive result and minimize the risk associated with bad faith claims.
