Michael Nelson Invited to Attend Federal Civil Litigation Conference

May 6, 2010, New York, NY - Michael R. Nelson, Chairman and a Founder of Nelson Levine de Luca & Hamilton (NLdH), has been invited by the Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Judicial Conference of the United States to attend the 2010 Civil Litigation Conference, to be held May 10 - 11 at Duke University School of Law. Participants at the prestigious conference will examine pleading, discovery, motions and trials, focusing on problems of access, fairness, cost and delay, and on improving civil litigation in the federal courts.

The Duke conference is the first step in a lengthy, deliberative rulemaking process. The Civil Rules Advisory Committee (one of five Advisory Committees reporting to the U.S. Judicial Conference Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure) is responsible for determining the need for amendments to the Civil Rules. This conference presents the opportunity for input to the Rules Committee at the earliest stage of the process from the users of the federal judicial system.

Throughout his legal career, Mr. Nelson has been actively involved in civil litigation reform, having provided public testimony on Federal Rule of Evidence 502; Class Action Reform and on E-Discovery; and Federation Rule of Civil Procedure 56. Mr. Nelson brings his expertise in insurance matters and corporate defense work to organizations such as The Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), Lawyers for Civil Justice (LCJ), and the Defense Research Institute (DRI), where he is an active member. He is a graduate of the Temple University Beasley School of Law, and is licensed to practice in PA, NJ, OH, NY and DC.
