Blue Bell, PA, May 13, 2009 - Cynthia A. Bernstiel, a partner at Nelson Levine de Luca & Hamilton (NLdH), discussed Arson-For-Profit at the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office's 2009 Arson Awareness Seminar held Friday, May 8 at the Crown Plaza Philadelphia in Valley Forge. The day-long seminar was the culminating event of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office's Arson Awareness Week program.
Ms. Bernstiel participated in a panel discussion that explored the implications of arson-for-profit for arson and fire investigators as well as insurance professionals.
She concentrates her practice on arson and fraud investigation and litigation. A former top prosecutor from the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, she served as Chief of the Montgomery County Investigating Grand Jury in which capacity she oversaw complex, multi-jurisdictional criminal investigations including arsons, white collar crimes, violent felonies and homicides. frequently lectures on the topics of arson and fraud investigation and techniques, as well as fraud-related insurance coverage issues.
Ms. Bernstiel is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Delaware and received her law degree from Villanova University School of Law. Throughout her legal career, she has been very active in the Montgomery County Bar Association, serving as President of the Young Lawyer's Division, a member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the American Citizenship and Membership Committees, and Chief Editor of the Montgomery County Law Reporter. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Child Advocacy Project, and provides pro bono legal services as a child advocate.
