John Geer has more than 17 years of experience in various executive positions within the insurance industry. During his tenure with GEICO, Mr. Geer served as the Assistant Vice President & Head of Staff Counsel responsible for all attorneys who represented policyholders. Following that, he was Vice President, Head of Claims Home Office with oversight of GEICO's claims handling throughout the US. Subsequently, Mr. Geer was appointed the Head of the Site Effectiveness Division. In this role, he was responsible for GEICO's Internet presence as it related to sales, service and claims handling. Mr. Geer was appointed to GEICO's Board of Directors in July 2000, and held this position until his retirement from the company in March 2009.
Before entering the insurance industry, Mr. Geer served on active duty for 23 years as a member of the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General Corps (JAGC). While a member of the JAG Corps, he served in various capacities, including Deputy Assistant Judge Advocate General for matters involving claims and tort litigation; Assistant Judge Advocate General of general law; and Assistant Judge Advocate General of operations and management matters. Mr. Geer retired from the Navy as a Captain in 1992. He is admitted to practice in Florida.
The former Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Insurance Crime Bureau, Mr. Geer served on the Bureau's Board of Directors from 2000-2005. He also served on the Board of Directors of the National Rehabilitation Hospital for six years. Mr. Geer applies experience garnered throughout his career to his serving as an Advisory Board member to various insurance-related organizations, including Injury Sciences, Praxis and HyperQuest.
