Robert M. Runyon Discusses Business Interruption Claims in the Wake of the Japan Disaster
Robert M. Runyon, III, a partner in the firm's Coverage Practice, discussed the impact that the Japan earthquake and tsunami has had on business interruption claims in the June 3, 2011 edition of The Wall Street Journal. In the article, "Insurance May Dodge Losses as GM $1B Quake Seems to Fade," Mr. Runyon and other industry professionals weighed in on whether insurers have avoided the anticipated onslaught of business interruption claims or if the threat of substantial claims remains. Although supply disruptions are ongoing, according to Mr. Runyon "It's probably a bit early to appreciate the impact on the supply chain...As far as the full effect on U.S.-based companies, you won't be able to see that for three to six months."
